Yep, this article has a slow start, but if you hang in there, it will be worth it!
Each morning when I get up, I open Facebook and see what the day is like there and I glance at MSN to get a feel for what is going on in the world. I also review my life and day to catch back up with the facts and appointments my subconscious mind was not concerned with. A pattern I have begun to notice is there is some strife in everyone’s life – my life included. There are possibilities on the horizon and there appears to be evidence that our dreams will not come true. On the other hand, each of us has accomplished many of our dreams – car, home, family, education, and so on.
With all of this “evidence” gathered, I thought, “what if we make a habit of viewing life from the top view”? What if we look at our dreams, current situation, struggle with patience, signs that we can’t accomplish our goals, and our past successes and view life from that vantage point? For me, that higher level view says, “of course you can accomplish a large, full, enjoyable life”! I admit that I am aware that the life I accomplish may not look exactly as I planned it out. I may end up in the Caribbean instead of Florida. I may coach older adults as opposed to business men and women. However, I will still be able to work remotely (my asthma is very picky about dust free/scent free/ virus free settings). I will also be able to keep chickens – in a well ventilated area.
My question and challenge is: what if each one of us took stock of our life from a big picture? What if we sought to change ourselves so the annoyances and problems in our lives disappeared? What if we viewed the world as a bowl of possibilities just waiting for us to ask to receive them? Will it take work? Yes! Will anything be handed to us? No! Is it worth it? Yes! And let’s face it. If you choose not to grow and instead tear others down, you will still be miserable; while the rest of us move forward.
So how about it? Live from the top level? Get the awesome vacation home? I invite comments or learn more about me here: linnchetty.com/about-me/.
